2. What is roleplaying?
There are all kinds of RPGs out there. To cut down on the explanation, I'm going to explain what Fantasy Gathering uses. Fantasy Gathering is a freeform (persona) RPG where you create a character and join in a current storyline.

Freeform is basically 'anything goes'. There are no GM/DMs, dice, paper, and so on.

3. What is "OOC" and "IC"?
I'm sure you've seen players use 'OOC' and 'IC' during an rp. 'OOC' means Out Of Character and 'IC' means In Character. Sometimes players would just put ( ) around their sentence as another way of saying they're OOC. Sometimes players are from different RPGs so they may say different things. Such as 'Enter:*character name*' or 'Exit:*character name*'. It's not widely used but I've seen it used in FG once or twice.

5. How do I join in the game?
Basically, All I can say is that you can read back a couple of messages to see what has been going on. Or you can 'lurk' around and watch. Then it'll give you an idea of how to jump in and get involved.

6. Who do I ask when I need help?
If you're playing on Yahoo, You can head to the OOC Oubliette. We'll try our best to answer your questions.

If you're playing on Yuku, You can post your question in the OOC Oubliette. We'll try our best to answer your questions.

Both places require having to create an account.

7. Does this mean my character can be anything I want it to be?
Just about. But do keep your character realistic. For example, A short elf running around with a sword the size of California. That's definitely not gonna be accepted by other players. There's also a popular type of character. A child who possesses powers that takes Mages/Healers YEARS to master. I don't think anyone will accept some 5 yr old girl who is a skilled telepath. There was also some discussion about Gods. FG doesn't allow 'rogue gods'. Basically Gods that don't have followers. You need to have at least one player who is willing to follow your god character.

8. Do I have to get my character approved before I can play?
A lot of people assume because there is a place where you can submit character profiles, that it's mandatory to send one before you can play. The simple answer is no, you don't. It's optional. You can create any character, at any time, and join in whenever you wish. And if you desire, You can submit profiles of your characters for others to read.

9. What is "Player's Knowledge" and is it allowed?
"Player's Knowledge" is when a player puts their knowledge into the character. For example, Let's say you posted a profile about your character on your website saying your character has a secret and you explained one of the ways your character can truly die. A good friend reads this and knows a lot about your character. Then after you two go IC to play, Your friend would use the knowledge that he learned from your site, but the character hasn't learned yet from the game, and unfairly attempts to kill your character. We've experienced a lot of players using PK and it simply isn't allowed by other players. Some players however do allow challenges by going OOC and demanding how the other player's character has learned certain things. But still, even after they explained how, Player's Knowledge isn't allowed.

10. Can I use my own race?
Yes! Why not? Use your creativity! That's what is so fun with fantasy. There is no limit in creating your character. But keep in mind, Don't go overboard with powers and immortality. Players will label you God-moder or Power-gamer.
